Kari Dajani - classical pianist

Kari Kvernberg Dajani (b. 1972) is a classical pianist with extensive education and experience. She graduated from the Østlandets Musikkonservatorium and the Norwegian Academy of Music, and holds a master's degree from the Department of Musicology at the University of Oslo (2006). Kari studied under the renowned Professor Einar Henning Smebye from 1991 to 1997, which has contributed to her strong musical foundation and technical proficiency.

As part of the Munch Piano Duo, Kari performs alongside pianist Thomas Knudsen. The duo has released an album that includes Rachmaninov's Piano Suite No. 2 and Symphonic Dances for two pianos. Their innovative arrangement of Stravinsky's "Four Norwegian Moods" for two pianos will be published by Schott Music in November 2024. The duo also plans to release their second album, featuring Igor Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring and "Four Norwegian Moods" for two pianos, in the fall of 2024.

Kari has extensive experience both as a performing musician and educator. Since 2003, she has been active as a teacher and accompanist at several music schools and high schools in Oslo and Akershus, including Bærum Kulturskole and Oslo Music and Culture School. Her work as a répétiteur at the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet, as well as a freelance pianist in various chamber music projects, has further enriched her professional repertoire. Since 2015, Kari has been a piano teacher, ensemble instructor, and accompanist at Edvard Munch High School, and since 2018, she has taught didactics at the Norwegian Academy of Music.
